BBS, MPINZ, MRICS, AIC Candidate Member
Tim graduated from Massey University, New Zealand gaining a Bachelor of Business Studies with a major in Valuation and Property Management. His first appraisal role was in 1997, with Tse Group, in Wellington, New Zealand. This was a multi-disciplinary practice where he worked for eight years on residential and commercial appraisal projects, alongside architects, town planners, engineers and land surveyors.
After a brief holiday in the UK, Tim returned to Wellington to work with his brother at Nathan Stokes & Associates. In his nine years here Tim completed a wide range of appraisal projects, presented regular seminars for first home buyers and produced a number of published articles on the Wellington property market.
In 2015 Tim moved to the UK with his Canadian partner. After a year travelling and house-sitting around the country they settled in London, where Tim gained employment with Lamberts Chartered Surveyors. His quickly gained knowledge of the complex London property market, completing valuation work across central London and the Home Counties. During this time he worked toward and gained his Chartered Surveyor status, MRICS, with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
Canada called in September 2017 when Tim was able to secure his Canadian Permanent Residency. He and his partner initially landed in Calgary, where Tim gained first hand-experience of a proper Canadian winter. Work opportunities arose in Vancouver and they moved to BC in April 2018. Tim is now a Candidate Member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada, studying toward his AACI designation which he hopes to gain within the next 12 months. He's happy to be back by the ocean and within sight of snow-clad mountains, similar to his homeland of New Zealand.
