Melanie started her real estate career since she earned her Master Degree of Real Estate Development program from University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Returning to Vancouver in 2001, she worked as a financial analyst in the Vancouver office of CB Richard Ellis Ltd.; later she enrolled in the Appraisal Institute of Canada Education program with an aim to be an accredited appraiser.
From 2002 to 2004, Melanie spent two years in a local appraisal company Parkes & Company Ltd. and gained experience of valuating a wide variety of commercial properties from small strata-titled units to regional shopping centres. In 2004, she joined an appraisal company specialized in expropriation, Interwest Property Services Ltd. and involved in acquisition appraisal for major infrastructure projects like Sea to Sky Highway Improvement Project, Canada Line Project, Golden Ears Bridge, Port Coquitlam Coast Meridian Overpass and Coquitlam David Avenue Expansion etc. In April 2006, Melanie obtained her AACI, P. App. designation.
Melanie has been working for Grover Elliott since 2006. The majority of her work is mortgage financing purpose appraisal of most types of commercial properties; she also undertook many challenging appraisal assignments including expropriation appraisal, railway corridor valuation, cell phone tower rental analysis and litigation purpose appraisal. Her clients include major chartered banks, credit unions, government agencies and local developers/ investors.
Melanie is fluent in Mandarin and used to be an architect in Beijing, China. She is one of a few mandarin-speaking accredited appraisers in British Columbia, and in the country.
