James G. Cameron - M.Sc. (Bus. Admin), AACI, P. App., RI(BC)

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Jim Cameron on July 3, 2011. Jim will be greatly missed by everyone at Grover, Elliott and our heartfelt sympathies remain with his family.

Jim graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science (physics and math), and then after completing his teaching certificate Jim taught secondary school for two years. Jim returned to UBC in 1977, to complete a Master of Science (Business Administration) degree. After graduation in 1979, Jim joined Grover, Elliott & Co. and during his 32 years with the company became one of BC’s most respected appraisers, specializing in large scale, high-density mixed-use and master planned communities. Jim shared his knowledge freely, both within the office and in his lecturing in real estate finance, property management, advanced real estate appraisal and appraisal cases.

Jim loved children and was always offering to babysit the children of the people at Grover Elliott. Throughout her school years, Jim kept his office hours at 9:30 to 2:45, working through lunch, so he could drop off and pick up his daughter Brittany at school. His clients remember Jim for his commitment, caring and tireless effort on their behalf. His colleagues and friends remember him as a thoughtful, generous, and kind person whose warm smile and generosity with his advice will not be forgotten.
